For what it’s worth, I got the Reality Expansion Pack for the 172 and find it works very well. Very easy on frames and great sounds and realism. Better get that oil temp up before run-up or your going to trash your cylinders …

Fantastic! What did you use for the trim on the side windows? It looks very nice. I also like the fans for the cabin ventilation system. Beautiful!

I’m not sure I understand the question, but you can create and save different profiles in the profile screen in SPAD.next. In that same screen you can assign those profiles to different X-Plane aircraft.

Hi. I believe I responded via email, but if not, I did not delete the fuselage – just various cockpit objects. Otherwise you lose the cowl, as you noticed. For the side views I used both an adjustment of the wings as well as a tilt of the viewpoint in the graphics setting (I think -6 degrees, if I recall) and the field of view (which is 56 degrees or so, if I recall). It all depends on the individual cockpit, but I used all these settings to get the alignment that I like.

I removed the base from my TVs and have no hesitation about having them sit directly on the studs within the frame. The TVs are very light.

I prefer SPAD.next as it gives me much greater ability to customize and program the FIPs and other gear. I have one of the FIP dials, for example, set to turn the Com radio volume up or down. For me it’s been worth the money.

PlaneMaker strikes me as a very lightweight program from a processing / power standpoint. I don’t know that preferences deletion would help much (though it would not hurt). My first step would probably be to run the X-Plane updater program. It should download or replace anything that’s missing or out of date. A second step might be to move PlaneMaker to a different folder, then run the updater and see if XP re-downloads it. That fresh install may work. Third step for me would be to try loading a different aircraft in PlaneMaker and see if that makes a difference. If none of that works, XP support tends to be pretty helpful if you contact them.

Working well here. I was able to remove the bezel in the config file (the one that sits in the aircraft folder, not the plugin folder). Now if it only read weather and traffic …

Great for you! I’d love to see some photos of the sim, and what a great thing to make this something for you and your son to share on Christmas. Well done!

That rubber trim is in essence what I used in my sim. I got it in grey. It works reasonably well, but I still prefer the more metallic trim that FlightSimLiberty uses. I’ve been unable to find that although I’m sure it’s out there.

Hi guys. I’m really happy to read this, and hope to benefit from your great work. I emailed them last week noting that my copy of their software does not see the X-Plane data refs file, so I can’t create custom variable assignments. No reply to that as yet …

I was just very careful. I used a large metal T-Square to trace the windows on the plastic sheets in pencil, then cut carefully. I also then put automotive window edging over the cut edges to cover my less than perfect cuts.
