I had this problem, too, and a reader gave me the fix. The command is something like “bus tie” – “tie” is the key word to look for. I’m not where I can check. But it  worked right away.

You might look into a “black pearl” or otherwise grey / black screen. Looks like they provide much better contrast. I’ve been considering one for months, and it looks like you can DYI as well.

Depends on the units you choose to get and the exchange rate as they’re made in Europe. Here’s the product page with pricing. They are not cheap, and the makes did give me some promotional consideration because of the blog. I still had to swallow hard to make the purchase, but in retrospect, I’m very glad I have them. Reaching for totally different avionics in the home and real cockpit was becoming a problem.

That is so great. I love how compact it is. It fits in a bedroom!

What did you use around the bezels / edges of the side TV cutouts? It looks sort of like the window edging I have in my sim but a bit nicer.

Couple of thoughts for you:

• On the FIPs, I learned through the hard way, trial and error, pain and frustration, the following truths about them:
  • They must have enough power. 500mA each. And they probably do better with USB 2.0 rather than 3.0. See my post on USB hubs and power here.
  • SPAD.neXT is by FAR the best way to drive them. Stable and highly customizable. The original SPAD, I struggled with. SPAD.neXt is far better. If you’re using X-Plane be sure to get the X-Plane variation.
  • If you use SPAD, delete ALL TRACES of the original Saitek software. Delete the drivers, the configuration software, the folders – everything. The Saitek drivers are notoriously troublesome, and with SPAD.neXt you need none of it. Delete it ALL.

I decided not to go with LG based on Lumens as well. I’ve liked the ultra-short, but do wish I’d been able to not spend quite that much.

You mean the default ATC? I don’t think so. I adjust the engine / internal external sounds so they are softer and the ATC is louder in comparison

I’ve used tablets (an iPad, but you could use Android as well) for the six pack and have had great success. Air Manager (which as a PC app as well) and RemoteFlight both make excellent apps, and it offloads the processing from the main PC. Russ Barlow, who produces Air Manager, comes by the site sometimes and may be able to tell you more.
