I have the system outlined below, and with the settings in the attached photo, I get 25 / 30 fps running FOUR (!) HD monitors (3 monitors and a projector, to be exact) all displaying 3D cockpits. IF I only run 3 monitors in 3D cockpit, I can crank up the settings and get much better FPS. So, I sometimes use AirManager for my fourth monitor/instruments, but until I get my panel built, I like the look of the 3D cockpit. I don’t run shadows or reflections, and World Objects is set pretty low BUT with OrthoScenery, I think it actually looks better that way.
MSI Z270 Gaming M7 Motherboard (it has super-easy overclocking options, from 4.4 to 5.0 ghz, I believe.)
I7 7700k oc’d at 4.7 ghz (can run up to 4.9, but any higher and it’s not stable)
32 gb GSkill Ripjaw 3200 RAM
A couple SSDs

I had good luck with Carl’s Blackout Screen. Pretty inexpensive on Amazon. A roll of 66″x110″ is like 40 dollars.

I usually stay around the middle TN area, though anywhere from Pigeon Forge to Tuscaloosa is fine by me. Mountains, fairly level stuff, plenty of riverside airports and my hometown. Aside from that, I like Jamaica. Mostly because of the relative small size and challenging airstrips. Really have to slip in to a couple of them. IMaybe one day I’ll go in real life.)

Hello All-
Preston here. Had one eye in the sky for as long as I can remember. Used to drag my girlfriend (now wife, of 20 years) to the local airport just to watch ’em take off and land. We’re in the greater Nashville area and are glad to be here! (I shudder at the pics of snow that OTG will post from time to time.) I figure OTG has a couple years on me, but maybe that means there’s still hope I’ll actually fly!?!? 🙂
I guess I started with FS95 and tried the rest (older XP & P3D) and I’m now 100% sold on X-Plane11. I enjoy making my own photo-scenery, via Ortho4XP (will.not.fly.without.it.) and hope to start freshening up my local airports.
Running a Core2DUO at a screaming 3.0ghz, with a GTX770 (I think), built for FSX. XP11 pb12, while using TrackIR across 3 monitors and following along in FlyQ actually runs very well for me.
Nice to stop lurking, and start contributing. 🙂

Any chance you can make a video on Airport editing, atop Ortho4XP scenery? I absolutely LOVE photo-scenery, but the airports I frequent are still… lacking?
You seem to be able to churn these suckers out in no time! What’s the process?
