What software to interface electronics with XPlane

What software would yo u recommend for interfacing electronics with xplane. I have thought about the arduino and ArdSimX, any other thoughts on using a raspberry pi for the interface or any other suggestions on interface hardware and or software?

I don’t use electronics that require arduino save the GNS 530, and it works flawlessly. I can say that most of the folks on here who have built their own gauges etc. use ArdSimX.
