  • Picked up a new Amazon FireHD 7″ tablet and a mounting bracket for my sim the other day so instead of trying to use my phone with a small screen I have a bit more real estate to utilize.  So for me a $49 tablet give me instant access to VFR charts, airport info and the use of approach plates. What a game changer!  I couldn’t afford an Ipad mini a…[Read more]

  • Perfect thanks so much Alan!  This is exactly what I am looking for Xplane or P3Dv4 the theory and execution is about the same.

I am very much in the same position.  Most of the parts in the console I have been buying over the past year.  No way can I afford to buy all at once.  Just keep at it you will get there!

Decided to go with a single trim wheel this time around instead of two. I have the face plate for two but since the saitek trim wheels are hard to obtain I decided to stick with a single one. Did a bit more work today and got quite a bit further.

Looking to finish this up over the weekend if time permits. Here is the current status of the console.

    Thanks Alan!

I’ll add another updated picture from a little more work I put in once I get a chance.

  • Not sure where this post belongs.  since it fits it a bunch of diffren’t categories.  I am working on building out an instrument panel beyond just having a screen in front of me.  I am looking to actually and in a face plate with bezels and rotary encoders.  I have picked up an Arduino board as well as a few encoders to play around with.  I have…[Read more]

So happy we are heading into fall I get to start working on my simulator again!  I usually take time off during the warmer months and don’t have as much time.  This past weekend I started working on the center console for my GA simulator project.  Looking to put a throttle quadrant on top and two trim wheels in the column for vertical and ho…[Read more]

    Florian,

Your not imagining this.  I have a similar issue.  The problem is not just with how close you are or if the TV/Monitor is in 1080P but rather its an issue with the pixel format your sending to the screen.  Of the 3 screens I have in my simulator (Left, Center, Right) I can get only two of them to utilize Pixel format 4:4:4 which ma…[Read more]

I am still running P3D with the AM plugin installed on the main Flight Sim computer and then the full AM interface with gauges on a separate PC. Works extremely well for me, so good in fact I just flew a full IFR night flight with almost no visibility and the gauges for me were perfect. I was using the A2A 172 aircraft as well.

I am happy with both products both AM and PB.  I just couldn’t get the 6 pack working correctly in PB so I am using AM.  I have found and confirmed that I can use both on the PC at the same time in my environment.  So I am using a hybrid solution to get the best out of both worlds.

Yup agreed! I am in the same position I don’t understand the scripting side of it.  Not that I can’t learn but I will probably lean on the community quite a bit for help.  As for the graphic design side of things I am not as worried that I can work on over time.  Though for now I fly the Cessna 172 100% of the time so what I have is working we…[Read more]

Big thank you to everyone who recommended Air Manager.  I got it installed, configured and running in about 30min and the difference between Air Manager and Panel Builder is night and day.  I can actually use my gauges for IFR flight now where Panel builder would give me such random and jerky movement I didn’t dare fly IFR.  So again big thanks to…[Read more]

  • Anyone had a chance to get hands on with the GoFlight yoke?  They have a GA version out now and I have been looking at possibly buying for quite some time.  At roughly $550 it makes the cost a bit easier to handle IMO.

Thanks Jeroen!  It was a challenge for sure but I am pretty happy with the end result.  Now time to focus on simulation for a bit and building out my radio stack.  Good times ahead!

  • Yup I see what you mean it does add quite a bit more visual expanse to your over all view! That is pretty darn slick looking. What video card are you using?  I got a r9 290x and I can’t seem to get a very clear image on my side windows its like the card won’t send out the correct 1080p @60hz or something even though it says it is.  Maybe an u…[Read more]

Thanks, yes i am happy with the size though my 6yr old daughter loves to fly and I don’t have enough room for dual controls but once in the air she takes full control and I just watch from behind.  Pretty sure she is a better pilot than me LOL!  :)
